San Bernardino Cares, in conjunction with the San Bernardino Community College District, the city and county of San Bernardino, Arrowhead United Way, and Prufrock Media, presents a jazz concert to benefit the victims of the Inland Regional Center shootings. Stolen Moments aims to bring healing through jazz in honor of those who lost their lives, and those whose lives were irrevocably changed by this tragedy. Featured artists include The Jennifer Leitham Trio and vocalist Lauren Koval, trombonist Bill Saulnier and Friends with other performers to be announced. Emcee for the evening is local comedian Lamond Sheppard. Admission to the show is free; donations for the San Bernardino United Fund will be taken at the door and distributed to the victims’ families via Arrowhead United Way. A visual arts display and silent auction, coordinated by John Smeby of infusionartworks in Redlands, will be presented in the theatre foyer along with information tables for local charities and sponsors.
Southpaw bassist, vocalist, composer, and arranger Jennifer Leitham has celebrated more than 40 years as a professional jazz musician, touring and recording with musicians as diverse as Mel Tormé, Peggy Lee, k.d. lang, George Shearing, Woody Herman, and Doc Severinsen. She has appeared on more than 125 recordings as well as innumerable TV and film soundtracks. Jennifer was the subject of Andrea Meyerson’s award-winning documentary, “I Stand Corrected”. http://www.jenniferleitham.com/
Lauren Koval entered the world of jazz in the early 2000s and has made her name performing with bands like the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, the Page Cavanaugh Trio, the Bob Noval Orchestra, and the Eddie Mann Sextet. She has performed in some of the nation’s top jazz venues, including Catalina Bar & Grill, Vitello’s, Steamers, and the Beverly Hilton. http://www.laurenkoval.com/
Lamond Sheppard presents “Comedy on Wheels” around the country as one of the Inland Empire’s top stand-up (well, in his case, sit-down) comedians. The winner of Ontario’s Got Talent and a finalist in L.A.’s Funniest Comic and King of the I.E., Lamond’s humor incorporates elements from his childhood in rural Louisiana and life in a wheelchair to present a unique, laugh-a-minute comedy experience.https://www.facebook.com/lamond.sheppard
Performers and sponsors are donating their time and energy to the cause, and 100% of all proceeds from this event will benefit the victims and their families.
